It is not just a Jazz Fest has which has expanded its purview over the years, growing alongside one of the most vibrant cities in the world.

Founded in April 1970, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is held in Louisiana’s largest city. New Orleans is known globally for its vibrant music scene and around the clock night life, it’s only fitting that it’s home to one of the longest running music festivals there is.
After celebrating their fiftieth anniversary last year, Jazz Fest is showing no signs of slowing down and have added an extra day to the 2020 edition, making it eight days in total. Welcoming around 500,000 fans each year, the festival is a celebration of Louisiana’s music and culture, spread out across fourteen tents and stages. Jazz Fest hosts the most influential artists of the century to the legendary main stage. Previous headliners have included Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Aretha Franklin, Aerosmith, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Beck and Lionel Richie to name just a few.
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has recently completed 50th year, which drew approximately 475,000 Music lovers. This year’s Jazz Fest is featuring an extra day with eight days in total of the unique presentation of American origin music, international rhythms, and Louisiana culture.
Highlights include: a rare performance by the first family of jazz—Ellis Marsalis and his four musical sons, Wynton, Branford, Delfeayo, and Jason—which culminated with a secondline through the WWOZ Jazz Tent; Katy Perry’s acclaimed set and set design at the Acura Stage, created especially for Jazz Fest, incorporating New Orleans’ own Soul Rebels and the Gospel Soul Children into her performance; the Dave Matthews Band’s rousing showcase of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band during their set; the unforgettable Jazz Fest debut of Diana Ross; more than 20 tributes to Louisiana legends such as Louis Armstrong, Pete Fountain and Al Hirt, Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew, Allen Toussaint, Louis Prima, Clifton Chenier and Buckwheat Zydeco, Danny and Blue Lu Barker, and many others; a grand finale by Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue with members of the Neville family including Aaron, Cyril, Ivan, and Ian Neville, Jazz Fest has introduced back the traditional closing by the Neville Brothers along with Trombone Shorty.
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation is a nonprofit org which owns the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The Foundation’s proceeds from Jazz Fest are used for year-round activities in the areas of education, economic development and cultural enrichment.
